Charter Continues Commitment to Technical Innovation
nCUBE and Kasenna Software Integration Enhance On Demand Services at Charter System in Malibu, CA
ST. LOUIS, June 16 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- In a further display of its continued commitment to technical innovation, Charter Communications, Inc. (Nasdaq: CHTR) today announced another successful integrated, open architecture deployment. The solution, successfully launched last month at a Charter system in Malibu, California, integrates nCUBE's nABLE back office management software and nODA on-demand application software with Kasenna's line of video servers running MediaBase XMP software.
"This is a compelling combination for Charter's on-demand offering, bringing together Kasenna's high-performance, standards-based servers with nCUBE's robust and flexible back office management software," said Wayne Davis, Charter Chief Technical Officer. "By using an open architecture, we were able to mitigate risk and keep our capital and operating costs to a minimum while growing our on-demand offering,"
"Kasenna offers the industry advanced, cost-effective and open VOD infrastructure solutions, and when combined with nCUBE's back-office management software, we bring a turnkey VOD solution to operators like Charter which provides lower costs and vastly superior service flexibility," said Mark Gray, Chairman and CEO of Kasenna. "The open architectures of our respective products allowed for a rapid and seamless integration and deployment, giving Charter the flexibility and ease of operation to deploy competitive and profitable on-demand services."
"Leading cable companies like Charter recognize the need for a flexible interoperable solution for delivering an advanced television experience that is reliable and cost effective," said Michael Pohl, President and Chief Executive Officer of nCUBE Corporation. "Charter has deployed nCUBE's complete VOD solution, which uses the same back office platform, in 15 other markets. We're pleased to partner with Kasenna in leveraging our proven deployment experience and integration expertise with their VOD hardware to provide a complete, seamless solution for deploying on-demand programming for Charter."
Mr. Davis said Charter OnDemand(TM), the company's video-on-demand service, is available to Charter Digital Cable Customers in select markets, providing full VCR-like functionality of on-demand content, including pause, fast-forward and rewind controls.
