Charter Awards nCUBE Four Additional VOD Markets

nCUBE to power VOD in Massachusetts, West Virginia and California

PORTLAND, Ore. – April 14, 2004 – nCUBE Corporation today announced that Charter Communications, Inc. (Nasdaq: CHTR) has selected nCUBE's on-demand platform including the nABLE software management system and nCUBE video server to expand video-on-demand (VOD) to four markets across the United States. The VOD rollout will include Charter markets in Worcester, Mass.; Charleston, WV; and Hysperia/Victorville and Riverside in California. Charter has now deployed nCUBE VOD solutions in 15 of their markets across the country positioning nCUBE as Charter's core vendor.

"We have found that integrating and deploying on-demand television doesn't have to be a complicated process,” said Wayne Davis, Charter senior vice president of engineering and technical operations. "nCUBE's approach centers around simplification and keeping overall operating costs down. Their reliable VOD platform allowed us to quickly expand our on-demand offering to these additional markets.”

“As operators continue to grow their on-demand business, they are increasingly focused on the benefits achieved from simplified integration and a scalable, stable platform when selecting a VOD vendor,” said Michael Pohl, president and chief executive officer, nCUBE Corporation. “We believe in providing operators with a VOD platform that gives them the flexibility to respond to the needs of each market.”

Charter already delivers VOD with nCUBE in Reno, Nev.; Ft. Worth, Texas; Birmingham, Ala.; Long Beach, Calif.; Alhambra/Pasadena, Calif.; Newtown, Conn.; Glendale, Calif.; Jackson, Tenn.; Kennewick/Yakima, Wash.; Manchester, Tenn.; and the Tri Cities area (Kingsport, Bristol, Johnson City) in Tennessee. Charter's VOD service is available to Charter digital cable customers and provides full VCR-like control of on-demand content such as pause, fast-forward and rewind.

nCUBE's video server provides unmatched storage and delivery capability that grows with consumer demand without duplicating content or hidden storage costs. The nABLE on-demand management system is a complete set of VOD business management and technical operations tools, including real-time and historical intelligence reports. nCUBE's open software architecture offers cable operators flexibility and ease of operation in deploying and integrating their on-demand service while keeping operating costs low.
